Jerry Reeves, MD
Dr. Jerry Reeves serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Health Officer for Consumers’ Choice Health Insurance Company of South Carolina. Consumers’ Choice is South Carolina’s first Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP). Dr. Reeves has a rich history of helping to engage physicians in pay-for-performance contracts and hospitals in contracts with quality and safety performance requirements resulting in low physician and hospital cost trends and improvement of quality outcomes.
Dr. Reeves also serves as Principal of Health Innovations LLC, offering health benefits design, wellness, medical direction and health management services for health plan sponsors and coalitions. He is Medical Director for HealthCare 21 Business Coalition serving more than 500,000 beneficiaries of employer sponsored health plans in Tennessee. He is Vice President of Medical Affairs of Health Insight, a private, non-profit regional health improvement organization dedicated to improving the healthcare systems of Nevada and Utah. He is Director of Community Health Innovations for the Center for Health Value Innovation. He chairs the Nevada Diabetes Council and the Southern Nevada Diabetes and Obesity Committee, and he is a director for American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Dr. Reeves previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union (HEREIU) Welfare Funds in 22 States where he acted as President of Las Vegas Operations and Director of the Health Services Coalition of Southern Nevada representing 350,000 participants in Welfare Trusts and Employer Health Plans for 25 large employers and unions.
Dr. Reeves served as President and Chairman of WorldDoc Inc., as Corporate Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Humana Inc., and in various positions with Sierra Health Services, including President of Nevada’s largest multi-specialty group practice and Senior Vice President of Healthcare Operations for Nevada’s largest health insurer. Dr. Reeves served as Chief of Clinical Medicine at USAF Headquarters in Europe. He served two terms on the Board of Health of the State of Nevada and as Associate Dean, Managed Care, for University of Nevada School of Medicine.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University and his Medical Doctor degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Reeves is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is Board Certified in Medical Management by the American Academy of Medical Directors. Dr. Reeves has authored more than 50 publications, been an editor for three professional journals and served on the faculty of three medical schools.
